Bernstein exponential polynomials and the corresponding Bernstein phase type distributions have been used for the approximation of univariate probability distributions. In the present paper, we introduce and examine approximations of multivariate distributions by the multivariate extension of Bernstein exponential polynomials which is a subclass of multivariate phase type distributions.
